The Yamaha RAS-1465 Recording Custom Aluminum Snare Drum brings Yamaha’s metal snare lineup into the legendary Recording Custom series with the consistency, clarity, and professional sound functionality the line is known for. Developed with valuable input from Steve Gadd, this 6.5x14 aluminum snare is designed for crisp articulation, dependable response, and excellent control in both studio and live settings.

The 1.2mm aluminum shell features an outward center bead, a departure from Yamaha’s traditional internal center bead design. After repeated evaluations, Yamaha moved the bead to the outside of the shell to create a more open sound with a crisp, articulate response. The result is a focused aluminum snare with strong sensitivity, musical projection, and excellent clarity.

The RAS-1465 is fitted with Yamaha’s heavy-duty Q-type strainer, which offers robust construction, smooth operation, stable adjustment, and easy snare wire replacement. Combined with its 6.5" depth, die-cast hoops, and precise Yamaha build quality, this snare offers a wide tuning range with a strong balance of body, attack, and control.
