Snareweight M80 Wasabi Green
Snareweight M80 Wasabi Green
Snareweight M80 Wasabi Green is a medium to heavy drum dampener designed for drummers who need strong, musical control of snare or tom overtones without losing brightness or feel. Made from AZ leather in a bold Wasabi Green finish, this larger format M80 adds a pop of color on white or black heads while providing four distinct settings to fine tune ring, decay, and focus for stage or studio.
Product Overview
The M80 Wasabi Green is built from genuine USA AZ leather and measures about 10 inches across, giving it more surface area and mass than smaller M1 models for more assertive dampening. The AZ leather formula offers a balance of firmness and softness so the dampener can flex with the head while still applying enough weight to noticeably shorten ringing and tighten decay. The Wasabi Green color is easy to see on stage and visually brightens any kit, especially on white batter heads.
Snareweight M80 Wasabi Green uses a patented clip that provides a secure grip on all size metal hoops and 1/4 inch wood hoops, with the exception of S-Hoops and Tama Arc Hoops where it is not recommended. It works with triple flange hoops, die cast, angel hoops, true hoops, brass hoops, and 1/4 inch wood, and it fits any size drum from 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, up to 18 inches. Magnetic flexibility and a non adhesive approach mean nothing sticks to the drumhead, keeping the surface clean and allowing the head to vibrate freely. Leather thickness varies approximately between 1.5 mm and 2 mm, contributing to its effective but musical control.
Sound & Playing Feel
The Snareweight M80 Wasabi Green is engineered to control resonance without sacrificing the brightness of the drum. Compared to tape, gels, or lighter dampeners, it presents more weight on the head, which helps shorten the length of ringing and produce a tighter, more controlled decay. One M80 provides four dampening settings labeled mild, medium, heavy, and off when flipped completely away from the head. This range lets you move from subtly focused to very dry, depending on the song, room, or recording setup.
At mild and medium settings, the drum retains clear attack and tone while excessive high overtones and long tail are reduced. At heavy settings, the M80 Wasabi Green produces punchy, focused backbeats well suited to close mic'd studio work or tight live mixes. Because the dampener sits at the hoop and follows the natural motion of the head, rebound stays consistent and the drum still feels responsive under the sticks. Ghost notes, rimshots, and cross stick patterns remain articulate, with more controlled sustain. The on and off feature allows quick disengagement between songs when you want to return to a fully open sound.
