Snareweight M80 Black
Snareweight M80 Black
Snareweight M80 Black is a medium to heavy drum dampener designed for drummers who need strong, controllable overtone reduction while keeping their snare or tom bright and responsive. Made from AZ leather in a classic black finish with silver font, this larger-format M80 is flexible by design and provides four distinct settings so you can tailor ring, decay, and focus to any room or musical style.
Product Overview
The Snareweight M80 Black uses AZ leather that balances firmness and softness, giving the dampener enough mass to provide noticeable control over resonance while remaining flexible on the head. It is built for medium to heavy dampening, making it a more substantial option than the smaller M1 units for drums that need stronger control. Genuine USA leather is paired with a patented metal clip that grips securely to all size metal hoops and 1/4 inch wood hoops, with the exception of S-Hoops and Tama Arc Hoops where it is not recommended.
Magnetic flexibility and a non adhesive concept mean nothing sticks to your drumhead, keeping the surface clean and free to vibrate naturally. The M80 is engineered not to warp, kink, or unstick under normal use. It fits any size drum from 8 inch to 18 inch, and works with triple flange hoops, die cast, angel hoops, true hoops, and brass hoops, giving you one robust solution that can move between multiple snares and toms in your setup.
Sound & Playing Feel
The Snareweight M80 Black is engineered to control resonance without sacrificing brightness. The additional weight of the larger leather pad places more mass on the head than tape or thin plastics, helping to shorten the length of ringing and tighten the drum's decay. One M80 offers four dampening settings labeled mild, medium, heavy, and off, allowing you to step through increasingly focused sounds or flip it fully away from the head for no muffling at all.
At mild and medium settings, the drum retains plenty of attack and tone while excess high overtones and long ring are reduced. At heavy settings, the M80 can produce a drier, more controlled backbeat suitable for close-mic'd studio work or tight live mixes. Because the M80 sits at the hoop and follows the head naturally, rebound and dynamic response remain consistent, so ghost notes, rimshots, and accents still feel familiar under the stick, just with more focused sustain.
