West Coast Drum Shop offers tuning services and educational sessions to teach you how to keep your drums sounding their best. Tuning is an often-overlooked aspect of ensuring your drums work at peak performance. Instead, many drummers rely on extensive muffling and dampening solutions to reduce undesirable sonic artifacts that result from improper tuning. In many cases this dampening is unnecessary, and those problems can be solved with careful tuning. If you don't feel confident about tuning but want to learn, you can request a tuning class with one of our experienced drum techs to learn how the process works. Class Timing

Tuning classes are held before or after store hours. If you cannot be present for this time frame, you may check in your drums with us and we will tune them according to our availability within 3 - 5 business days.

Service Details:

• Duration: Each class is at least 60 minutes, and you can ask for a longer time frame for additional cost.
• Price: $100 per hour, and $50 per additional 30 mins.
• Included: Tuning of up to 5 drums (kick, snare, two toms, and a floor tom). If your kit has fewer than 5 pieces, more time will be spent on each drum. For kits with more than 5 pieces, please inform us beforehand to adjust for additional time and cost.
• You may request additional drums and/or additional time for your class, however, we reserve the right to stay within our scope of work and timeline. If we can accommodate your request, you will be billed an additional $50 per 30 mins.

Important Notes:

• We will use the heads currently on your kit. If you prefer new drum heads, please re-head your kit before the class, or we will charge you for the extra time and labor for replacing the heads during the class at a rate of $50 per 30 mins.
• Our tuning is limited to the condition of the drums you bring. This means if the drums are damaged or require refurbishing in order to tune properly, this is outside the scope of the class and additional labor/parts fees will be incurred. 
• West Coast Drum Shop is not responsible for damages caused by normal tuning and playing.
• After being tuned, most drums will drift out of tune over time. Striking the heads forcefully will cause them to detune. Also, changing environmental factors such as heat, humidity, and vibration from travel will cause the drums to go out of tune faster. Therefore we cannot guarantee perfect tuning for any length of time once your drums have left the shop.

Additional Services:

• In-House Tuning and Setup: $150 per hour within a 15-mile radius for drums purchased at West Coast Drum Shop. Please contact us for rates if you did not purchase our drums through our shop or online store. 
• Drum Technician Services: Available for studios and live shows. Rates may vary, so contact us for details.
